Disneyland 60th Anniversary

I had been seeing commercials for the Diamond Anniversary at Disneyland, also known as the 60th anniversary which started in May, for weeks. Since my family and I were already headed to SoCal at the end of May after my graduation, I thought it was only right that my mom and I take my little sister for her first time. Not only that, in case you can’t already tell, I LOVE DISNEYLAND. It meant limited edition Minnie ears, Indiana Jones and churros.

The whole way from Palm Springs to Anaheim, we kept telling my little sister we were going to the wake up in the morning, go to the grocery store and then drive back to the Bay Area. There were a few things that gave little hints as to where we were going that my six year old sister started to notice. The first one being, there were pictures of Mickey and Minnie everywhere at the hotel we stayed at, and she’s at the age where she just started reading so she kept saying Disneyland with a look of question on her little face. Then in the morning, we got up super early to go to Disneyland and all the parking structures had Disney characters everywhere. All the kids everywhere were wearing Mickey caps and Minnie ears. She was asking so many questions.

We thought we were in the clear once we got to the tram though, but the second we started our journey to Downtown Disney, the tram said Disneyland at least 20 times. We couldn’t keep it a secret any longer. This big smile appeared on her face, and she said “I just don’t believe it, I won’t believe it until were in the park!” This was one of the moments I’ll always remember.

We had a great time! It was nice going with someone who had never been to Disneyland before, and it was even better that it was my little sister. I got the limited edition blue diamond 60th anniversary Minnie Mouse ears and none of the rides were closed. If you have ever been to Disneyland, you should know that’s a rare occasion if all the rides are open. We even had breakfast with the characters in the middle of Disneyland. It is a little pricey but totally worth it since you get to take pictures with all the characters and can get their autographs. This was definitely a trip to remember!

Yours Truly,

B
