On my recent trip to LA I stayed at the Grafton Hotel on Sunset. I’ve stayed in West Hollywood before, but not right on Sunset and this location was amazing! It was just a short three-minute drive from the Beverly Center, five minutes from Melrose and ten minutes from Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills..thankfully! I literally had 30 minutes to get ready for my photo shoot on Rodeo once I arrived at the hotel and there’s no way I would have made it if I chose to stay anywhere else. You guys know that LA traffic! .. And if you don’t, well let’s just say it takes an hour to get 8 miles.. pure insanity!
So anyways, as I pulled up to the hotel, valet was waiting to grab my bags and take them inside for me. The first thing to catch my eye when I walked into the lobby was the beautiful chandeliers in front of the Hollywood sign wallpaper. There was also a photo shoot happening right there in the lobby… not surprising, its LA! I’m not sure who the three men were, but if I was going to make a guess, I would say a rock band for sure!
I checked in as quick as possible because as I mentioned I still needed to get ready for my shoot with Stefanie! So once I got my key, I took the elevator down to the first floor and ran to find room #140!.. Have you guys ever seen Supermarket Sweep? If so, that was totally me.. hahaha! If you haven’t seen it, don’t worry I’ve linked it HERE for you guys. My sister and I used to watch it all the time when we were little. That and Shop Til You Drop!.. #goodtimes 😉
In case you haven’t noticed by now, I get distracted easily and one thought leads to another and before you know it I’m talking about game shows from the 90’s 😉 .. So back to the hotel! I opened the door to my room and I was pleasantly surprised! There was a huge couch, a super cool, LA vibe wallpaper, and another one of those beautiful chandeliers they had in the lobby.
The whole room was so urban and decorated with warm, red tones, animal print carpets and chic furniture. And the bed… OMG you guys!! The bed was soooo comfortable!!! Not only that, they had a robe waiting for me in the closet 🙂
They also had all the snacks you could want! Cookies (obviously my FAV!), gummy bears, m&m’s, soda’s and of course alcohol if you’re into that! They also had Evian water throughout the room, which I was super happy about because I find myself getting really thirsty in the middle of the night on warmer days.
The bathroom was stocked with all the necessities and had amazing lighting which is a bloggers dream while getting ready!
But my favorite part about the hotel HAD to be my view! I was poolside and had the cutest little patio just outside my door where I could (and did) have lunch while soaking up the warm California sunshine. Room service delivered my burger and I had the perfect lunch spot. If you stay here, I definitely recommend getting a room by the pool.
The chairs and towels are complimentary too and the excellent staff regularly cleaned the area to make sure each guest received the same experience. It was a perfect 80 degrees to go for a dip.
I also stopped by their bar, Bar20 next to the main lobby to grab my complimentary drink. Since I went during the day on a Thursday it was pretty calm, but you know what that means! Immediate service! The Grafton Hotel on Sunset has a really cool, cohesive vibe throughout the whole hotel and you can see from the photos below. I loved the studded stools, quilted couches and red, white and black color theme. This bar got pretty poppin’ at night too! They had live music playing for the guests, so it was the place to be!
After a long day of photo shoots, events and general touristy stuff, I went back to the hotel to change into some comfy clothes and eat dinner at the steakhouse, Oliver’s Prime. It’s just steps away, through this beautiful white door in lobby.
Once again, it was pretty quiet but I did go at 8pm and they were closing at 9pm that night. I definitely wasn’t complaining though! The dim lighting and quiet atmosphere was perfect after a long day. They started me off with some bread and butter, along with a bottle of water.
After looking at their mouth-watering menu, I decided on the Classic Baked Shrimp Scampi. I’m a sucker for shrimp! Ask D, we’ll go to Ruth Chris and I’ll order shrimp 🙁 Maybe I’ll try to broaden my palette someday? haha.. but this dish was DELICIOUS!!! It had garlic, white wine, herbs, breadcrumbs and rustic grilled bread. Executive Chef Greg Elkin did an AMAZING job!
After finishing my dinner I realized the group of men next to me must have been food critics of some sort, since the chef came out and discussed the plates one by one after they were done eating. This is reason #19482947 why I love LA! There’s always exciting things happening around you! And to keep the excitement going, as I was leaving the restaurant, it was then that I saw the live music playing in the bar next to the lobby.
Overall I had an AWESOME time staying at the Grafton Hotel on Sunset and I will definitely be staying there again!
Until next time!
